Find us on Facebook   Programs Denali Arts Council is a community arts organization.   It has provided an ever-expanding range of drama, circus, music, film, photography, dance, writing and visual arts opportunities and events since 1981.  DAC involves people of all ages, backgrounds, skills and talents. DAC operates 8 arts groups: Denali Drama, Green Light Circus, Hangar Door Cinema, Music Academy, Talkeetna Artists Guild, Local Motion, Susitna Muse and Focus on Kids.  We also operate the Open Air Market. Denali Drama produces dramatic events, often partnering with area schools.  It enables local playwrights with casting and production assistance.  It also conducts training seminars for performers and the stage trades.     Green Light Circus produces an annual summer circus camp and performances for youth.  It also conducts workshops on performance skills throughout the year.  Occasionally GLC will present visiting circus talent . Hangar Door Cinema hosts movies and film festivals during the non-summer months.  They hope to conduct workshops on filmmaking.     Music Academy buys string instruments and rents them to individuals at affordable rates as well as offers weekly string lessons during the school year.  The Music Academy works with area schools to enhance music curriculum, operates a community orchestra and presents concerts of visiting and local musicians.  The Music Academy would like to expand beyond the stringed instrument focus.     Talkeetna Artists Guild provides a venue for local and guest artists to display their work.  They conduct workshops in the visual arts for the community and assist the area schools with Art Week each year.      Local Motion…For the Love of Dance encourages a love of dance and movement.  They present local and visiting talent and conduct workshops for dance and movement. Susitna Muse promotes and encourages writers in the Upper Su Valley.  They conduct writing circles to share writing and receive feedback.      Focus on Kids is a photography program for youth.  They offer workshops and display the youth work in formal exhibits in the North Wall Gallery in the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar.  They assist the area schools with Art Week. Artisans Open Air Market is a summer outdoor market featuring juried & approved handcrafted art by Alaskan artisans.10am-6pm Sat - Mon each weekend; May to September.
